My name is Megan Gustafson and I currently play in the WNBA for the Washington Mystics. I am originally from a tiny town along the south shore of Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin. Once it was time to decide where to go to college, I chose to attend the University of Iowa. I spent a 4 wonderful years there (2015-2019), where My team and I won a B1G championship, we made it to the elite 8 in the NCAA tournament, and I received the consensus National Player of the Year as a senior.
Right before I graduated college, I was drafted as the overall 17th pick in the WNBA by the Dallas Wings. Immediately following, I finished up my studies online and headed to training camp. I spent 2 years on and off with the Wings, and additionally started my 3rd year as a pro in their training camp before getting released and becoming a free agent.
After I was released by the Wings earlier this year (May 2021), I was picked up and signed by the Washington Mystics on June 21st, 2021.
God’s plans may not look like our own, but His plans are certainly greater than any of us could ever imagine!
During my offseason of the WNBA, I play overseas to stay in shape and to keep improving my game – so there really is no offseason for me!
As big as basketball is in my life, there is something (or should I say, someone) much bigger – my faith in Jesus Christ. Being a Christian defines who I am, and is something that I want to share with the world.
My goal with this website/blog is to be a light for those who are surrounded by darkness, and direct them to our one true hope: Our Lord and Savior!
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
